The Red Bike is the product of a powerful need to tell and dramatize the story of a family, a story capable of addressing contemporary realities. The narrative thread is provided by Marta who, as if leafing through a photo album, tells us of the eccentric and heroic adventures of her family. Marta does not appear on the stage, or rather cannot be seen, as she is inside her pregnant mother’s womb, and right at the start of the play announces: “This is the story of my family before I was born.”
